Deffenbaugh and Wiggins Named to D-I Independent Volleyball All-Academic Team

GREELEY, Colo. - Two University of Northern Colorado women's volleyball players were named to the Division I Independent All-Academic Team on Wednesday. Senior Erin Deffenbaugh and junior Amanda Wiggins were two of the 15 total players selected to the team.
Deffenbaugh, who has a 3.83 gpa in interdisciplinary studies liberal arts (IDLA)-English, leads the team with a 4.62 kill and 3.07 digs/game average and has scored a team-high 537 points this season. The All-American is only six kills away from setting the NCAA career record for attempts and currently ranks No. 8 in NCAA history in career kills.
Wiggins, who carries a 3.86 gpa in finance, has played in 20 of 27 matches this season and suffering an injury in the season opener. In 72 total sets she has averaged 0.72 kills and 1.31 digs/game.
The D-I Independent Women's Volleyball All-Academic team was selected by sports information directors at member institutions. Nominations from each school were accepted for student-athletes who had at least a 3.2 cumulative G.P.A., had reached at least a sophomore athletic standing and were a starter or key reserve for the team.
Division I Independent volleyball teams include IPFW, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Providence, South Dakota State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Pan American and Utah Valley State.
