Benson Adds Another To The Fold
April 10, 2008
Northern Colorado women's volleyball coach Lyndsey Benson announced today the signing of high school senior Breanna "Bre" Williams to a National Letter of Intent. Benson has now added seven players to next year's roster.
Williams (Littleton, Colo.) joins Amanda Arterburn (Aurora, Colo.), Natasha Law (Seabrook, Texas), Jill Dawson (Lincoln, Neb.), Natalie Laband (Monument, Colo.) and RaeLynn Snyder (Simla, Colo.) as new players who will enroll at Northern Colorado for fall semester 2008.
Abbie Howe (Eaton, Colo.), another commitment, is already on campus after transferring from the University of Colorado.
Williams will come to Greeley following a standout volleyball career at Columbine High School. She is a member of the 2007 Colorado 5A all-state volleyball first team, and she finished 2006 and 2007 as a first-team all-Jefferson County Conference volleyball selection.
"Bre is a great get for us because it is hard to find someone of her size who has excellent passing and defensive skills as a freshman," Benson said. "She will be able to compete immediately for a starting spot on the outside this fall."
Williams was part of a Rebels team at Columbine that won Jefferson County Conference titles in 2006 and 2007 and finished third in the Colorado 5A tournament in 2007. She was honored as the Jefferson County Conference most valuable player in 2007 after leading the league in kills and digs for the second straight season, and she was candidate for the 2007 Wendy's High School Heisman.
Williams was a standout basketball player at Columbine, too.
"She is athletic and has all of the tools to be a very effective player early in her career," Benson said. "She is a great student, great person and is thrilled to stay in Colorado and be a Bear."
