Volleyball's Guthrie named Big Sky Player of the Week
OGDEN, Utah (November 11, 2013) - Northern Colorado's Ashley Guthrie has been named the Big Sky Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the matches played the week of Nov. 4-10.
Guthrie, a freshman from Saugus, Calif., tallied 38 assists Friday in Northern Colorado's four-set victory at North Dakota. That win was UND's first conference loss at home and second Big Sky loss of the year.
Guthrie managed to get three teammates into double-figure kills while adding seven herself (on 14 attempts, 0 errors, .500 hitting percentage). She also added eight digs, two solo blocks (a career-high) and three block assists. Her five total blocks added to Northern Colorado's team total of 17, which helped keep North Dakota to .094 hitting, its lowest percentage of any conference match this season.
Guthrie is just the second freshman in the Big Sky Conference to win a player of the week award this season.
