Santos Advanced To Round of 32 At The ITA Central Regional For Northern Colorado's Tennis Team

TULSA, Okla.- Junior Manuela Santos had a great start on the first day of the ITA Central Regional to highlight Northern Colorado's showing from Oct. 17-19 in Tulsa, Okla. on the campus of University of Tulsa.
Santos won her first match in the tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Jocelyn Jensen of Brigham Young University in the Qualifying Singles Round of 64 on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Santos advanced to the round of 32 with the victory, where she was defeated by Klaudia Wlodarczyk of Boise State, who was the fifth seed overall, 6-1, 6-1.
The other Northern Colorado Bears player to compete in the ITA Central Regional was junior Tabatha Knop. Knop fell to Melissa Esposito of Colorado by the margin of 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday, Oct. 18
Knop continued her play and competed in the Consolation Singles on Friday, Oct. 19, where she was defeated by Lucy Scott of New Mexico by the score of 7-5, 6-3.
In doubles action the NC team of Tabatha Knop and Santos fell to Bowling Green's team of Klaudia Wlodarczyk and Bianca Jochimsen by a 8-3 on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Next on the schedule for Northern Colorado is the start of the spring season against Northern Arizona in a home match on Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.
