Van Oost again honored by MPSF

For the second time this season, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has awarded Northern Colorado freshman Courtney Van Oost with the women's swimmer of the week award.

Van Oost (Elgin, IL/Burlington Central HS) posted the sixth-fastest 200 Backstroke in school history with a winning time (2:06.42) against South Dakota State and Northern Iowa last Saturday. She swam a 58.85 in the third leg of the winning 400 yard medley relay team, and finished second in the 200 IM (2:14.28). In the afternoon session, the Bears had to win the final event – the 400 freestyle relay – in order to win the duals – as Van Oost swam the third leg in 54.10 (the fastest split on the team) to help secure the victories. She was also second in the 400 IM (4:36.92) and 100 Backstroke (1:00.21).

This week, Van Oost and the Bears head to Fort Collins for the Colorado State Invitational on Friday and Saturday at EPIC.
