Bears Swimming Tops Northern Iowa But Falls To South Dakota State
Northern Colorado came out with two wins over Northern Iowa today in a three way dual that also included South Dakota State University. Northern Colorado fell to the Jackrabbits in both duals.
The first dual of the day provided the Bears with a strong finish in both 1 meter and 3 meter diving. Junior Sarah Cook took the first place spot in both events posting a score of 212.42 in the 3 meter event and 221.61 in the 1 meter.
Sophomore Kelly Schmeckpepper-Cook placed second in in both diving events with a score of 203.25 in the 3 meter and 200.85 in the 1 meter.
Sophomore Tori Gutt provided the Bears with a first place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.93, three seconds faster than the second place finisher.
In the second dual the top finish for the Bears was provided by Gutt, sophomore Alana Dauman, junior Alexis Glessner and freshman Jennifer Smith in the 200 yard medley relay. The team finished only three seconds behind the team from South Dakota State with a time of 1:55.08.
Next up for Bears swimming and diving is the Husker Invitational taking place on Nov. 20 -23.
