OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced Tuesday that Northern Colorado swept the final week's Player of the Week honors.

Senior defender Aundreaha Martinez earned Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Alexsys Tamayo was named Offensive Player of the Week after Northern Colorado's 1-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha.

Martinez was, once again, solid in the back for the Bears, as she helped her Northern Colorado earn its seventh shutout of the year. Led by Martinez, the Bears defense stifled Nebraska-Omaha all night -- holding the Mavericks to just one shot on goal.

Martinez also chipped in offensively with one shot on goal.

Tamayo, an Aurora native, scored the lone goal for the Bears. Just as the game appeared to be heading to a chilly overtime, the defender put away a shot off a Northern Colorado corner-kick. Kimmie Feidler took the corner and found JJ Wykstra's head, who flicked it to Tamayo for the goal.

The goal was Tamayo's second of the season.

To add to an already fantastic week that has seen the Big Sky announce five Northern Colorado players to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team and one player to the second team, the Bears were also placed, for the first time this season, in the NSCAA Pacific Region Top-Ten. The Bears are tenth in this week's poll that features teams from conferences such as the Pac-12.

Northern Colorado will look to cap off the week with a Big Sky Conference tournament championship on Sunday. The Bears kick off the tournament against Montana in the semi-final at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4.
