Bears fall to Buffs in another home exhibition match
GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado women's soccer squad continued its spring exhibition season with another home match against another rival in-state school. This time, the Bears faced off against the Buffaloes of Colorado University and fell 3-1 in a hard-fought match.
Despite the chilly temperatures at Jackson Stadium, Northern Colorado got off to a hot start, as Brittany Dunn found the back of the net to kick off the scoring. The freshman found herself in the starting lineup and is coming off a first year that saw her finish third on the team in goals (3).
For most of the opening half, the Bears held that 1-0 lead until Colorado got on the board late in the half. The Buffs got two quick goals from Amy Barczuk and Maggi Steury to take the lead going into the locker-room.
In a second half that saw the action go back-and-forth, Colorado got the game-sealing goal on a breakaway from Erin Bricker.
Last fall, these two teams matched up in Boulder, as the Buffs came away the victors in that matchup as well. They defeated the Bears 2-0.
Next up for Northern Colorado is a trip to Regis University for a trio of games on Saturday, April 2. The Bears will kick off the day with a matchup against Air Force and will also play games against Regis and Fort Lewis.
After that, the Bears come home again for their annual Alumni Match at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9. They also have home matches against Wyoming, Colorado College and Air Force left on the docket.
