Two Colorado Prep Standouts Join Wrestling Program

GREELEY, Colo. - Casey Cruz and Lance Gallegos are the two most recent signees for Jack Maughan and the University of Northern Colorado wrestling team.
Cruz is the 2007 Colorado State Wrestling Champion, having capped his senior season at Wasson High School in Colorado Springs undefeated at 40-0. In his junior season, he lost only his final match to finish second at State, with a 40-1 mark. He also finished second as a freshman and fourth in his sophomore season. His final prep record was 145-12.
Cruz was named the 2007 Rocky Mountain National Champion, and was a three-time Colorado state champion in Freestyle and Greco.
Gallegos is two-time State Champion out of Arrupe Jesuit High School in Denver, where he finished with a 125-11 prep record.
He won State as a junior and senior, having previously finished second in 2005 and fifth in 2004. He was named 2007 Frontier League Athlete of the Year, and was an honor roll student, carrying a 3.4 GPA. Gallegos was also a 2006 Junior Nationals All-American, finishing seventh.
