GREELEY, Colo. - University of Northern Colorado wrestling head coach Jack Maughan was named College Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Colorado Chapter on April 3.

Maughan led the Bears to a 7-9 record in just their second year of a full Division I schedule. The Bears also picked up their sixth all-time championship at the Colorado Collegiates in Alamosa, Colo., and Maughan was named Coach of the Year at the event for the fourth time in his career.

Under the guidance of Maughan, sophomore 197-pounder Reece Hopkin tallied a 27-6 record and finished ranked 20th by the Division I NWCA/USA Today/IntermatWrestle poll for the first Division I ranking in any sport for Northern Colorado since the program reclassified to Division I in 2003-04.

Maughan will be honored at the eighth annual National Wrestling Hall of Fame Colorado Chapter Honors Banquet on April 30. The event is held at the Officers Club at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
