GREELEY, Colo. - Brackets and seedings for the 2007 NCAA Division I National Championships, held March 15-17 at The Palace at Auburn Hills in Michigan, were released on Tuesday.
Kenny Hashimoto (23-2) earned the only seed for the Bears, taking No. 9 at 141. The redshirt sophomore from Thornton will wrestle Darrion Caldwell of North Carolina State in his first match on Thursday.
At 125, Greeley native Tony Mustari (23-8) opens his tournament against No. 11 seed and Colonial Athletic Association champion David Tomasette of Hofstra.
Luke Salazar (17-7), also from Thornton, will square off against C.P. Schlatter, the No. 4 seed out of Minnesota. Schlatter didn't wrestle in the Gophers' meeting with Northern Colorado on Dec. 1.
Shawn Vincent (17-10) will have a rematch in his first bout at 184. The Evanston, Wyoming native will go up against Oregon State's Kyle Bressler. Bressler won a very close match the last time the two grapplers meet, on January 20 in Greeley, beating Vincent 4-3 with a point from riding time.
Kersey product Reece Hopkin (19-6) received a first-round bye, and will face Joe Fendone from Edinboro in the second round on Thursday evening.
