Wrestlers Lose to Cal Poly, 22-16

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The University of Northern Colorado wrestlers opened their western road swing with a 22-16 defeat at the hands of Cal Poly Friday evening.

The Mustangs (6-8) opened the meet with a pair of decisions at 149 and 157 before Devon Lewis got the Bears (5-8) on the board with an 8-0 major decision at 165.

Chase Walker followed with a 7-5 decision at 174 to give the Bears a 7-6 lead, and after a setback at 184, Calen Nicholl scored a forfeit win at 197 to make the score 13-9.

Unfortunately, the Mustangs took three of the final four matches - with Tony Mustari's 7-2 win at 125 the only Northern Colorado victory - to notch the win.

The Bears travel to Cal State Fullerton Saturday for an 8 p.m. meeting with the Titans.
