Bears Tumble At No. 10-Ranked Western State, 28-14
GUNNISON, Colo. -- The University of Northern Colorado wrestling squad dropped a 28-14 decision to NCAA Div. II No. 10-ranked Western State on Thursday night at Wright Gym.
Swenson scored a 17-0 technical fall over Jeremy Goss to pull UNC to within 9-5 after three matches. However, UNC's next win came at 165 pounds when Mark Reavley notched a 6-4 win over Western State's Tyler Lancaster.
The Bears final win of the evening came at 197 pounds when freshman Reece Hopkin tallied a pin over the Mountaineers' Blake Wilson. Hopkin's pin closed out the dual and UNC suffered the 14-point setback. UNC fell to 2-8 on the season, while Western State improved to 8-3.
The Bears will be back in action at home on Sunday when they host North Dakota State at 1 p.m., followed by a dual against Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. Both matches will take place in Butler-Hancock Hall.
