Daviner Ties For First In Dual With Cowgirls

Northern Colorado's women's golf team was just seven strokes back of Wyoming entering the second day of its dual with the Cowgirls on Sunday, March 9, at Greeley Country Club.

But the Cowgirls went even lower on day two.

The Bears shot a 323 to Wyoming's 316 on the first day of competition Saturday, March 8, but the Cowgirls turned in a 307 in the second round to easily defeat the Bears 623-654.

Individually, Northern Colorado's Heather Daviner finished tied for first with Sarah Fogerty after turning in a 153 (77-76). Jenny Henderson finished tied for sixth with Mikala Henzlik with a 161 (78-83), Gina Rodriguez came in ninth with a 163 (82-81), and Shayna Godfrey (165; 82-83) and Katie Avery (165; 81-84) tied for 10th with Wyoming's Laura Mengelkamp.

Matti Nelson (13th, 167 two-day total), Autumn Alford (14th, 168), Emily Dougherty (14th, 168) and Abby McNeley (18th, 170) also finished in the top 20 for Northern Colorado.

The Bears next competition will come Monday and Tuesday, March 17 and 18, at the Cal-State Bakersfield Invitational in Bakersfield, Calif.
