Women's Basketball Tabbed Ninth In Media and Coaches Polls

The University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team was chosen by both the Big Sky Conference coaches and media to finish ninth in league play during 2007-08.

The Bears received 11 votes in the coaches poll and 34 in the media poll. Montana was picked to win in both the coaches and media preseason polls, while Idaho State is picked to finish second in both polls.

The defending regular-season champion Montana collected 63 points with seven first-place votes, while last year's tournament champion Idaho State had 58 points and two first-place votes in the coaches poll.

Montana State is picked third in both polls with 144 points from the media and 44 points from the Big Sky coaches. Northern Arizona finished fourth in the media poll with 134 points and fifth in the coaches polls with 41 points. Weber State received 42 votes in the coaches poll for fourth place and 126 points in the media poll for fifth.

The media and coaches both chose Portland State to finish sixth with 118 and 30 points respectively. Eastern Washington was picked seventh in both polls. The Eagles received 23 points in the coaches poll and 78 points in the media poll. The coaches and media placed Sacramento State in eighth place and Northern Colorado rounded out the voting in both polls with a ninth place finish.

The 2007-08 basketball season gets underway with an exhibition contest against Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 2 at 7:05 p.m., while the regular season begins on Nov. 11 against San Francisco at 4:05 p.m.
