Women's basketball tops Columbia 71-51

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team moved to 5-4 after a win against Columbia University to tie the total win record from last season.

 

The Bears scored the first eight points of the game with two three pointers from Jaime Schroeder and never looked back with a final score of 71-51. The team reached a season high in three pointers and assists and it also marked the second time Northern Colorado has posted double figures in three pointers with 13.

 

Senior center Danielle Hagen tied her career high for assists with six and made her 600th rebound in the first half of the game. Junior guard Jamie Schroeder had her second double-double of her career and led the team with a career high of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hagen and freshman guard Kate Kevorken both posted 12 points.

 

Sophomore guard Lizzie Cooper had a career game topping her season and career highs in field goals (2), three pointers (2), points (10), assists (5), blocks (1) and minutes played, playing a total of 38 minutes. She tied her career high in rebounds.

 

Columbia posted 33 rebounds and scored 30 points in the paint. Guard Michelle Gage led the Lions in points with 14 and in time played with 31 minutes.

 

The Bears head into a nine day break before traveling to face Wyoming on December 17th at 7 p.m.
