Barbour Surpasses 1,000 Points in Season Finale

PORTLAND, Ore. - Heather Barbour scored 20 points in her final game for the University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team on Saturday, becoming a member of the school's 1000-point club, as the Bears closed out their first season in the Big Sky Conference with a 77-63 loss at Portland State.
Barbour entered the game with 995 career points and nailed a 3-pointer at the 13:43 mark of the first half to pull with two points of the milestone. Just over four minutes later, at the 9:23 mark, Barbour hit another three to put her over the mark. For the season, Barbour averaged 15.6 points per game.
Her effort wasn't enough to ensure a victory for the Bears (5-24, 2-14), who found themselves down early when Portland State (12-17, 8-8) opened the game on a 13-2 run en route to taking a 42-25 halftime lead.
In the second half, Northern Colorado cut the Vikings' lead to seven points at 47-40 and again at 65-58 with with 4:18 left, but Portland State hit eight free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.
Whitley Cox returned from injury and was also dominant for the Bears. The sophomore guard scored a game-high 29 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Aside from Barbour, three seniors played their final game for the Bears on Saturday. Nicole Ford pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and had two blocks while Melanie Drangmeister finished with three points and Bailey Dillon dished out three assists.
