Cox Records a Double-Double in Bears' loss to Montana State

GREELEY, Colo. - Whitley Cox scored 18 points and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, though the University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team dropped a 77-49 decision to Montana State Thursday night in Big Sky Conference action.
The Bears (5-21, 2-11) jumped out to an early lead at 11-5, five minutes into the game, but Montana State (12-14, 7-7) rallied to close out the half on a 31-9 run, taking a 16-point lead into the locker.
In the second half, the Bobcats stretched their lead to as many as 37 points, at 70-33, before Northern Colorado closed out the game on a 16-7 run.
Cox was a force the entire game, almost reaching her double-double in the first half, when she finished with 10 points and nine rebounds through the first 20 minutes of action.
Heather Barbour scored 17 points, marking the 25th time in 26 games that she's scored at least 10.
Nicole Ford scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Rebecca Mercer paced the Bobcats with 20 points.
Northern Colorado closes out its first home campaign as a Big Sky member with a Saturday contest with the University of Montana. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
