NCAA Honors Women's Tennis

April 29, 2008
GREELEY, Colo. - The NCAA
recently announced its yearly public recognition awards for sports
teams that scored in the top 10 percent of their sport based on the
multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score and the University of
Northern Colorado women's team was one of the teams honored.
The tennis team earned
this honor with a perfect score of 1,000 over the data collection
period. Northern Colorado was one of 192 institutions honored by
the NCAA and the Bears were one of 46 women's tennis teams to place
in the top 10 percent for their sport.
The APR was instituted as
a part of the association's academic reform package and is meant to
provide a real time look at a squad's academic success. Data is
collected on a semester by semester basis and includes factors such
as eligibility, retention and graduation in order to provide a
picture of a team's academic culture.
Multi-year APR scores for
all 6,110 Division I teams will be publicly announced May 6.
