FORT COLLINS, Colo. - After day one of competition at the Early
Bird Invitational, hosted by Colorado State University, the
Northern Colorado swimming & diving team sits in second place
behind the host Rams. The Bears have 239 points, compared to 554
for CSU.
In the 500 yard freestyle, Tori Gutt, Chesney Randolph, Whitney
Dahms, Hannah Halstrom and Amanda Donegan swept places six through
10 behind the top five, which were all from CSU.
The divers continued to perform strong, with Sarah Cook
finishing second and Kelly Schmeckpepper-Cook third in the
three-meter diving. Cook scored 245.65, while Schmeckpepper-Cook
tallied 228.30.
The 200 yard freestyle relay quartet of Dawn Adams, JJ Smith,
Jennifer Betts and Alexis Glessner finished fifth in 1:43.29, while
the 400 medley relay team of Randolph, Gutt, Glessner and Adams was
also fifth in 4:09.63.
Competition at the Early Bird Invitational concludes today at
the Edora Pool & Ice Center (EPIC) in Fort Collins.
