Swimming Finishes WAC Shoot-Out

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - At the second and final day of the WAC
Shoot-Out, the Northern Colorado swimming & diving team dropped
three duals, falling to Nevada (184-58), Northern Arizona (149-88)
and Boise State (177-65).
Tori Gutt continued with the nice start to the 2008-09 season,
placing third in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of
4:40.09 and sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:27.62.
Sarah Cook placed sixth in the three-meter diving after tallying
212.75 points, then finished third in the one-meter diving with
220.35 points. Sophomore Kelly Schmeckpepper-Cook placed sixth in
the same event with a total of 214.90.
In the 1,000 yard freestyle freshman Brogan Beyette and senior
Whitney Dahms finished 11th and 12th in
11:20.95 and 11:31.38, respectively. Senior Chesney Randolph placed
13th in the 200 butterfly with her time of 2:17.73,
while freshman Amanda Donegan was 15th in the 500
freestyle, clocking a 5:26.09 in her first meet as a collegian. She
also came back to finish 12th in the 200 breaststroke
with a time of 2:31.86.
The Bears return to the competition pool on Oct. 17 and 18 at
the Early Bird Invitational, hosted by Colorado State in Fort
Collins at the Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC).
