Swimming Starts Season With Three Duals At WAC Shoot-Out

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Northern Colorado swimming
and diving team began its 2008-09 season at the WAC Shoot-Out ,
falling to New Mexico State (183-53), Air Force (163-73) and San
Jose State (183-51) in the three duals after day one.
Junior Sarah Cook led the Bears with a second-place finish in
the 1-meter diving, scoring 227.0 points and then finished fourth
in the 3-meter event with 227.75 points.
Sophomore Tori Gutt, who had a tremendous freshman season,
continued to make her mark in the pool, finishing ninth in the 200
yard IM with a time of 2:13.09. She also finished 15th
in the 100 yard butterfly after clocking a 1:00.90.
Freshman Cheryl Bready placed 13th in the 100 yard
freestyle with a time of 55.31 and senior Whitney Dahms swam a
5:28.73 to finish 14th in the 500 freestyle, while
teammate Alexis Glessner was 16th in 5:29.54.
Competition continues tomorrow at the WAC Shoot-Out tomorrow
morning at 10:00 a.m., where the Bears will compete against Boise
State and Nevada.
