Zimmerman, VanderVelde and Hoke Earn Places On All-Conference Teams
Sydney VanderVeldeBig Sky Soccer All-Conference teams were announced this week,
and they feature three Northern Colorado players.
Senior Jessica Zimmerman and junior Sydney VanderVelde were both
named to the second team, and senior Maryann Hoke was an honorable
mention in the defender position.
Zimmerman played in all 20 games for the Bears in 2008 and led
the team with 32 shots on goal. She is now tied for seventh in
career points and tied for fourth in career assists in Northern
Colorado program history as well as being tied for ninth in career
goals with 19. Zimmerman was named as a Big Sky Player of the Week
for the week of Oct. 20, 2008.
VanderVelde tied her career high in goals with 4 in 2008 in
addition to setting career highs in both assists (1), points (9)
and shots (27). She recorded 17 shots in goal this season.
Hoke, who transferred to Northern Colorado from UConn, played in
all 20 games for the Bears and earned four points and scored two
goals. Hoke also recorded 25 shots with seven on goal.
