Soccer Earns First Big Sky Win Against Idaho State

Northern Colorado soccer defeated Idaho State 6-2 to earn the team's first Big Sky victory of the season. This lifts the Bears to 6-10-0 (1-2-0 BSC) on the season while the Bengals drop to 2-9-4 (0-2-1 BSC).

Freshman Ariel Cook put the Bears on the board first in the sixth minute. Cook received the assist from sophomore Olivia Deadmond and made it behind the goalie. Idaho State's Kilee Quigley tied it up just over two minutes later with a goal off of a free kick made by Annamarie Hofstetter.

In the 19th minute Northern Colorado took the lead again when junior Sydney VanderVelde made an unassisted goal off of the post putting the score at 2-1.

Three minutes later senior Jessica Zimmerman put in the game winning goal. Zimmerman took the ball that was deflected by a defender to bring the score to 3-1. Senior Teresa Prais extended the Bears lead to 4-1 off of a corner kick from Zimmerman in the 33rd minute.

Freshman Kimmie Feidler put the score at 5-1 when Feidler powered the ball in the goal from 20 yards out.

In the 52nd minute the Bengals tallied another goal when Lauren Ryan took the assist from Quigley to bring the score to 5-2.

It was in the 62nd minute that the Feidler scored the final goal of the game making it past the defenders to get the ball just over the goalkeepers hand t put the final score at 6-2.

Then Bears return to Jackson field for the last home game of the regular season against the Weber State Wildcats. The match will begin at noon Oct. 19 at Jackson Field
