Soccer Drops Decision In Conference Opener
Ariel CookIn the conference opener for 2008 Northern Colorado soccer
remains winless against the Portland State Vikings after a 2-1
decision on Friday. This loss drops the Bears to 5-9-0 on the
season.
The Bears defense held the Vikings to a scoreless first half
with the Bears outshooting Portland State 9-2.
It was not until the second half when Portland States Dolly
Enneking scored the first goal off of the assist from Iman Bearde.
The Bears got on the board 19 seconds later when freshman
Ariel Cook received the assists from Megan Bellendir and Sydney
VanderVelde to tie up the game at 1-1.
Enneking clinched the game for Portland state with her second
goal of the game in the 65th minute moving the Vikings
to 2-9-2 on the season.
In the game Northern Colorado outshot the Vikings 23-8 with five
coming from senior Jessica Zimmerman.
The Bears continue action on Sunday as the team travels to
Sacramento State to face the Hornets in the second conference game
of the season.
