Women's Basketball Ends Road Stint With Win

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- With only four players scoring in the game, the Northern Colorado women's basketball team was lead to a 63-56 win over Northern Arizona. The Bears move up to 11-10 on the season and 5-3 in Big Sky Conference play, while the Lumberjacks move to 7-14 on the season and 3-5 in league action.

Senior center Danielle Hagen posted another impressive double-double with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Hagan shot 8 for 8 from the free throw line and provided three assists for the Bears.

Freshman guard Kate Kevorken scored a career high 23 points, shooting 9 of 11 from the field and 5 of six three point attempts. Kevorken and Hagen combined for 47 of the 63 points scored by the Bears.

Junior guard Jamie Schroeder and freshman guard Courtney Stoermer posted 8 points each to round out the Bears scoring.

The Bears, who lead by as much as 15 in the first half, outscored the Lumberjacks by 10 in the paint and out-rebounded Northern Arizona 43 to 30. Northern Colorado shot .400 from the field, 6-15 (.447) from beyond the arc and (.882) from the free throw line.

Northern Arizona was led by Laura Dinkins who provided 18 points and seven rebounds. The Lumberjacks shot only .328 from he field, 4-13 (.308) from beyond the arc and ended the game 8 for 8 from the charity stripe.

The Bears return to Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion to play Weber Stateon Thursday Feb. 7, 2008 at 7:05 p.m. and Idaho State on Feb. 9, 2008 at 2:05 p.m.
