Northern Colorado Softball Signs Fourth Student-Athlete
University of Northern Colorado head softball coach Linda Witt announced the signing of a fourth student-athlete to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Bears during the 2005-2006 season.
Witt signed Kim Halper an outfielder from Omaha, Neb. (Millard West High School) to a National Letter-of-Intent.
Halper earned first-team Super-State honors from the Lincoln Jounal Star. She also earned Class A all-state honors as a senior. The Omaha World Herald also named her to the second-team Class A all-state squad. As a junior she batted .366 and followed that up with a .343 average as a senior for head coach Holly Hoppe. Halper is an honor roll student.
Halper is the daughter of Jim and Colette Halper and plans to major in pre-business at Northern Colorado.
L.B. Waltz (Broomfield, Colo./Legacy H.S.), Katelyn Landorf (Daytona Beach, Fla./Father Lopez Catholic H.S.) and Hillarie Van Otterloo (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield H.S.) all previously signed to play for Northern Colorado next season.
Northern Colorado recently completed its second full season of NCAA Division I softball with a record of 12-28. The Bears scored Division I wins over New Mexico State, Morehead State, Providence, Furman, Butler, George Mason, George Washington, Rider, Utah Valley State and UTEP. This past season was the second season of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I.
