OREM, Utah - Mackenzie Barrett was rewarded for her exceptional play this past weekend, being named NCAA Division I Independent Player of the Week.

Barrett had an incredible weekend for Northern Colorado, helping the Bears' to a split in their final home series. The junior from Lakewood, Colo. batted .692 (9-for-13) with 7 RBI. She had five extra-base hits on the weekend, including three doubles and two triples, and walked three times, for an OBP of .813.

"Mackenzie started out a bit slow, but in the past month she has really turned it on," said Bears head coach Jennifer Schunke. "She absolutely exploded at the plate this weekend and she could not have picked a better time to peak. We are very proud of her."
