Weather Completes A Hat Trick
April 9, 2008
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Women's tennis? Check. Baseball? Check. Softball, too?
Mother Nature completed its assault on Northern Colorado's athletics schedule Wednesday afternoon by raining out the Bears' softball game against in-state rival Colorado State.
The game, originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. start, will be put on hold for a week. The teams are now set to play at the same time on Wednesday, April 16, at Ram Field.
The softball postponement comes on the heels of wintry weather pushing Northern Colorado's women's tennis match against Colorado State, scheduled for Wednesday, to next week, and wet Midwest weather in Lawrence, Kan., completely washing out the Bears' scheduled two-game baseball series, also scheduled for Wednesday, against the University of Kansas. The games against the Jayhawks will not be made up.
So, with the change in scheduling, next week shapes up as a busy one for coach Jen Schunke's softball team. Following the game against the Rams, Northern Colorado will host Nevada-Las Vegas on Thursday, April 17, before beginning a four-games-in-two-days series against Utah Valley on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19, in Greeley.
The Bears will, however, get to savor their doubleheader sweep against Western Nebraska Community College for another week.
