Softball Drops Double Header To LMU

LOS ANGELES - The University of Northern Colorado softball team is glad it does not have to face Loyola Marymount anymore this season as the Lions handed the Bears two more losses this afternoon, falling 8-0 and 10-1 in a double header.
In the first game, the Bears tallied just four hits and committed three errors, while the Lions had eight runs on 14 hits with no errors.
Hillarie Van Otterloo threw the first four innings, giving up five runs on 11 hits with one walk and no strikeouts in 23 batters faces, while Courtney Maihi pitched two-thirds of an inning surrendering three runs on three hits with three walks and one strikeout in eight batters faced. There were two outs and the bases were loaded when the game ended.
In the second contest, the Bears scored first, tallying one run in the top of the first inning. Jessie Schoepflin led off the game with a walk and advanced to third on a Van Otterloo single to right field. Mackenzie Barrett grounded out to the short stop, but Schoepflin scored on the play. LMU scored 10 unanswered to win the game 10-1.
The Bears had one run on four hits with one error, while the Lions had 10 runs on 14 hits with no errors and Courtney Tysdal hit two home runs in the contest and three on the day.
Van Otterloo had three of the Bears four hits in the game with Schoepflin getting the other. Kelli Henderson pitched five innings giving up eight runs on 12 hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 29 batters faced, while Jamie Juelfs surrendered two runs on two hits in two batters faced without recording an out.
