Softball Falls 6-0 To Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of Northern Colorado softball team dropped a 6-0 decision to 2007 NCAA Tournament participants Utah in the finale of the Red Desert Classic on Sunday afternoon. The Bears are now 1-4 on the year.

 

The Bears managed five hits, but were unable to string any together to garner some runs. Heather Buckley went two-for-four on the day, with a double while Courtney Maihi, Mackenzie Barrett and Morgan Dahlman each tallied one hit.

 

Kelli Henderson pitched the complete game for NC, giving up six runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and eight walks in 33 batters faced.

 

The Utes used a trio of pitchers with Brittany Parker throwing 3.1, Ashley Smuda 1.2 and Haili Squire 2.0. All five of the Bears hits came of Parker.

 

Northern Colorado returns to action on Friday, playing Creighton at 10:00 a.m. and UC Riverside at 2:00 p.m. at UC Riverside in the first day of the Ten Construction Tournament.
