Men's Tennis Kicks Off Home Season With Pair Of Duals

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's tennis team will take to the courts this weekend for home matches against Mesa State on Saturday and Montana on Sunday.
The Bears (1-5) last competed on Feb. 12 against South Dakota State at the Air Force Academy. Northern Colorado broke a 28-dual losing streak with a 7-0 win over the Jacks. The Bears swept every match in the contest and won all but one singles match in straight sets.
Mesa State (0-2), a Division II team, is coming off 7-0 losses to Division I foes Utah State and Weber State. The Mavericks will compete against Colorado College on Friday before the showdown with Northern Colorado at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Butler-Hancock Tennis Complex.
Sunday's dual against future Big Sky Conference rival Montana will take place indoors at Work Out West (5701 W. 20th St. in Greeley) at 10 a.m. The Grizzlies are 1-1 on the season, with a win over Lewis & Clark State and a loss to Montana State. Montana is led by Jan Steenekamp, who is 7-2 on the season. The Grizzlies will take on Air Force on Thursday and Denver on Friday before the showdown with the Bears.
