Men's Tennis Falls To Northern Arizona

GREELEY, Colo.- The Northern Colorado men's tennis team put up a fight on Sunday, but it was Northern Arizona that emerged victorious at the Workout West Courts, winning 7-0.
In doubles play, Ryan Lane and Calix Van Lier forced a tiebreaker at the number one position before dropping the match 8-7 (7-4).
Freshman Robbie Edwards battled tough, forcing three sets at the number three singles, but eventually falling 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to Robin Pezzutto.
The Lumberjacks won the other five singles matches in straight sets to earn the victory. The Bears are now 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in Big Sky action, while Northern Arizona is now 5-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play.
"NAU is a strong team and we didn't have the answers today," said head coach Tim Beerman. "Hopefully we can have a better showing in Washington this week."
The Bears will travel to Cheney, Washington where they will battle Idaho, Gonzaga and Eastern Washington on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
