Men's tennis comes up short against Northern Arizona and Western New Mexico
PHOENIX -- The Northern Colorado men's tennis team was defeated in a pair of matches in the Valley of the Sun last weekend, falling 7-0 to Big Sky Conference team Northern Arizona and 5-2 to nonconference foe Western New Mexico.
NC's Calix Van Lier earned a No. 1-singles victory over WNMU's Flavio Rueda (6-3, 6-4) and Clay Mundell defeated WNMU's Francisco Pereira (6-4, 6-3) for the Bears' other point against the Mustangs.
The Lumberjacks swept through the Bears (1-12, 1-5) in doubles and singles. Van Lier and Andre Lepine put up a fight at No. 1 and 6 singles, respectively, but were ousted by NAU's Andrew Reiff and Jaco Visagie.
Northern Colorado will look to end its losing streak on Friday, March 13, when it takes on Washington at 1 p.m. at Work Out West.
