Eric Higgins Wins Maine Amateur Golf Championship
July 12, 2007
Waterville, MAINE -- University of Northern Colorado senior captain Eric Higgins from Kennebunk, Main today became the 88th Maine Amateur Golf Champion.
Higgins shot a one-under par 69 to hold off a charging Toby Spector to bring home the crystal trophy. Higgins' round was solid, with two birdies and a bogey on the front and one birdie and one bogey on the back. He shot back-to-back rounds of 70 in the first two rounds and shot the 69 to complete the tournament.
Last season, Higgins tied for sixth place at the Independent Golf Championships, helping lead the Bears to a third-place finish.
Higgins and the rest of the men's golf team will begin fall classes on Aug. 27.
