Men's Golf Finishes 14th In Final Fall Tournament

Stockton, CALIF. - The University of Northern Colorado men's golf team closed out their fall season by placing 14th at the Pacific Invitational, competing against some of the top teams in the nation. The Bears shot a three-round tournament total of 883 (289-291-303).

 

Senior Eric Higgins led the Bears finishing in a tie for 31st place after tallying a 214 for the three rounds (70-71-73) with a two-under par. Freshman Stephen Bidne tied for 46th place, shooting two-over par for the tournament, including a hole-in-one on the par-three 12th hole in the third round of the tournament (75-71-72). Ron Alford placed 61st after he carded a three-day total of 225 (72-74-79), while Kyle Burns (72-77-79) and Derek Hofmeister (84-75-81) placed 65th and 70th, respectively.

 

Charlotte's Stefan Wiedergruen won the tournament title, carding a 17-under par 199 (66-67-66), while leading his top-ranked team to the team trophy as the 49ers tallied an 824 (278-275-271) over the three days.

 

Northern Colorado will not compete again until March 17-18 when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., for the First Tee Collegiate.
