Men's golf begins fall season, finishes in 11th at Falcon Invite

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Northern Colorado's men's golf team began its fall season this weekend, participating in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite. The three-round tournament was played at the Eisenhower Golf Course.
The Bears finished the weekend tied with Northern Iowa for eleventh place after shooting a combined 898 (+34).
Steve Bidne undoubtedly went into the tournament feeling confident, having won the individual title last year. This year he led the Bears, shooting a three-round score of 225 (+9), with his best score coming in the final round where he shot a 2-over par 74. The Minnesota native finished in a tie for 49th place overall.
Ryan Boshoven finished his tournament tied with Bidne and had the lowest one-round score of any Northern Colorado golfer with his 2-under par 70 in the opening round. He finished out with a 5-over par 77 and a 6-over par 78.
Nick Bisogno finished one stroke behind Bidne and Boshoven with a total score of 226 (+10). He finished in a tie for 53rd overall. The senior's best score came in the final round, where he put together a 2-over par 74 to finish strong.
Troy Sidabras finished in 76th place after putting together a three-round score of 232 (+16), while Jon Petersen shot a 236 (+20).
The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs earned the team title, finishing with a 861 (-3). San Diego (+5), Colorado State (+7), New Mexico (+7) and UNLV (+13) rounded out the top-five.
Individually, Colorado State's Ryan Peterson took home medal honors, finishing with a three-round score of 207 (-9). Colorado States Kory Harrell (-4), Colorado-Colorado Springs' Chris Shoop (-3), Wyoming's Gabe Maier (-3) and San Diego's Gunner Wiebe (-3) all finished in the top-five.
Next up for the Bears' golf team is the Mark Simpson Invitational on Sept. 27 and28. The two day tournament will be played at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie.
