GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado men's basketball team recently announced the signing of point guard Monice Garrett to a national letter of intent.

Garrett comes to the Bears from Cornerstone Christian Academy, a prep school in San Antonio, Texas, where he averaged 13 points and six assists per game.

Prior to that, Garrett was a three-time state champion at Westbury Christian High School in Houston.

Known for his quickness and athleticism, Garrett was also a state champion in track after winning the 200-meter dash. He has run a time of 10.84 in the 100-meter dash as well.

Northern Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said that he expects Garrett to contribute right away for the Bears, who will no doubt benefit from having a true point at the helm of what is potentially a very explosive team.

The Bears have now signed five new players for next year's team. A complete announcment on all the signees will be released in the near future.
