Men's Basketball to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Tournament

GREELEY – March Madness continues for the Northern Colorado men's basketball team, as it will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opening round of the Tournament on Wednesday, March 19 at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.

The Bears (18-13) will face the ­­­­­­Islanders on Wednesday at 7 p.m., presented by Banner Health/North Colorado Medical Center. Tickets will be available for purchase online HERE at 8 a.m., or by phone or in person at 10 a.m. on Monday morning.

To get your tickets call the UNC Ticket Office at 970-351-4849 or visit the University Center Info Desk at 20th Street and 10th Avenue. Adult tickets are $20, youth are $12 and court side chairs are $50. All UNC students enter the game free through the student entrance on the west side of Butler-Hancock. There will be a $5 parking fee.

"We are really excited to be apart of the CIT field," Head Coach B.J. Hill said. "We can't thank our community and university enough for allowing us to host a game in a post season tournament. Our guys worked extremely hard this season and are excited to be a part of the CIT field."

The CIT is in its sixth season after being started in January of 2009. The tournament features 32 teams in a single elimination format, consisting of six rounds that are all played at on-campus sites. The host site is determined by seeding.

The semifinals will be played on Tuesday, April 1 with the championship game to be played on Thursday, April 3. The team with the higher seed will host all games. The semifinals and championship will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

The Bears played in the Tournament once during the 2009-10 season. Northern Colorado beat Portland in the opening round, 81-73, followed by a loss to Pacific, 63-59.
