OGDEN, Utah -- Senior forward Derrick Barden was honored with his second career Big Sky Player of the Week honor after his impressive performance against Kansas State.

Barden, a native of Detroit, Mich., played a major role with his 11th career double-double in the upset win over 2012-13 Big 12 Champion Kansas State. Barden totaled game-highs in both points and rebounds, with 16 and 17, respectively. He scored all of his points from the field while shooting .500, 8-of-16. Fourteen of his career-high 17 rebounds came on the defensive board while three came on the offensive, including a rebound off a late missed Bears free throw to help guide the Bears' win. Barden also created turnovers with three steals leading to seven points in his 33 minutes of action.

The win against Big 12 competitor Kansas State was the first such win for Northern Colorado against a team from the conference. It was also the first win for a Big Sky team over a Big 12 team since December of 2008. Northern Colorado also snapped Kansas State's 47-game home non-conference winning streak, and ended the Wildcats' 19-game winning streak in home openers.

Barden also earned the College Sports Madness Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honor on Monday.
