Northern Colorado moves up one spot after second round in Goodyear
Despite another day of ideal conditions to go along with solid rounds by two Bear golfers, the Northern Colorado men’s golf team struggled to move up in the leader-boards at the Denver Desert Shootout. The Bears finished up its second-round of play at the Palm Valley Golf Club with a team score of 296 (+8), moving past Northern Iowa into thirteenth place in the standings.

Bears in 14th place after opening round in Denver Desert Shootout
After a three-week layoff, the Northern Colorado men’s golf team found itself back to work at the Denver Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Arizona over spring break. After the first day of action, where the Bears shot a first-round score of 288 (+6), the team sits in fourteenth place, ahead of host-school Denver, as well as Utah and Southern Utah.

Bidne earns second America Sky player of the week
Northern Colorado’s Steve Bidne was named America Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, 2010, the conference office announced on Thursday. Bidne rallied after a first round of 77 with rounds of 71 and 72 en route to a ninth place finish for the junior at the Washington State Snowman Getaway Tournament in Chandler, Ariz.

Bears finish in eighth at Snowman Getaway
The Northern Colorado men’s golf squad used a strong final round to land itself in eighth place at the Washington State University Snowman Getaway. The Bears final round score of 300 (+12) was its best of the tournament and enabled the team to move up a spot on the final day at Whirlwind Golf Club.

Bears sit in ninth place after first day in Chandler
The Northern Colorado men’s golf team finds itself in ninth place after the first day of action at the Washington State Snowman Getaway in Chandler, Ariz. The Bears put together scores of 305 (+17) and 306 (+18) in the first and second rounds at the windy and rain-soaked Whirlwind Golf Club for a two-round score of 611 (+35).

Mistakes cost Bears a chance to contend in Houston
After putting itself into a tie for fourth place after the first two rounds at the Rice Intercollegiate, the Northern Colorado men’s golf team failed to take advantage of improving weather and missed a chance to contend for the title. A mistake-filled final round ended up costing the Bears immensely as it put together a final round score of 312 (+24), which was the third-highest score of the day.

Bidne named America Sky's Player of the Week
Stephen Bidne was recently named America Sky Conference Player of the Week after capturing the title at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite in Colorado Springs. The tournament, which Bidne wrapped up on Sept. 20, was the first title for the junior out of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Despite foul weather, Bears in fourth place in Houston
Northern Colorado has gotten out of the gate much better in its second tournament of the spring and has worked itself into contention after the first day in the Rice Intercollegiate. After a cold and windy first day at Westwood Golf Club, the Bears are sitting in a tie for fourth place along with Nebraska and Houston.

Men's golf stumbles out of the gate at Arizona Invite
Northern Colorado's men's golf endured a disappointing beginning to a hopeful spring season as play finished up today at the 2010 Arizona Invitational at Arizona National Golf Course. The Bears posted their best round of the tournament today but finished in 14th overall in the talent-rich field. Junior Nick Bisogno led the way for Northern Colorado, finishing in a tie for 62nd.

Men's golf charges back in final round of Northridge Invitational
Northern Colorado men's golf team finished its encouraging 2009 fall slate with a bounce-back effort during the final round of the Cal State Northridge Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club. The Bears carded a 286 during the final 18 on Tuesday (only three teams in the field of 17 were better) to finish in a solid seventh place following rounds of 303 and 292 during the tournament's first two rounds.

Bidne paces men's golf to fifth-place team showing in Kansas City
Northern Colorado junior shoots 3-over-par 75 Tuesday at Blue Hills Country Club to finish tied for seventh. The Bears came in fifth as a team in the 13-team field at Missouri-Kansas City's Bill Ross Intercollegiate.

The Dean of the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado recently issued the Dean’s Citation for Academic Excellence to business majors who completed at least 12 credit hours during the prior spring semester and 13 student-athletes were honored on the list.

11 tourneys, America Sky Championship highlight 2009-10 men's golf schedule
The Bears' first competition will come in mid-September at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational in Nebraska City, Neb. Their season will end at the America Sky Conference Golf Championship in late May in McAllen, Texas. In between, Northern Colorado will play in 10 other tournaments, taking them from courses in Colorado to Utah, Missouri, California, Arizona and Texas.
