Scrimmage Yields Good Results On Both Sides

GREELEY, Colo. - Both sides of the ball showed marked
improvement in the final scrimmage of fall camp on Friday morning.
The Northern Colorado offense scored four touchdowns, all coming
late in the scrimmage, while the defense forced three fumbles,
including returning one for a touchdown and three interceptions.
"There was good communication today," said Head Coach Scott
Downing. "They self-corrected plays in the huddle without the
coaches input and we saw explosive plays on both sides of the ball.
Execution was good on both offense and defense and I hope it
continues to improve."
The defense started out the morning on fire, forcing two fumbles
and recording a sack in the first three drives, but the offense
retaliated, scoring four touchdowns late in the morning.
Starting quarterback Bryan Waggener hit receivers Cory Fauver
and Matt McDonnell for one touchdown each, while running backs DC
Wilson and Andy Muns also crossed the goal line. Defensively, John
Eddy forced two fumbles, while Max Hewitt returned a fumble 45
yards for a defensive touchdown.
The Bears open their season on Sept. 6 at Purdue in a noon
kickoff (Central time).
