McGraw & Van Portfliet Honored For Academics

GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado football juniors Tim McGraw and Mike Van Portfliet were named to the ESPN The Magazine District 7 All-Academic Teams, announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

McGraw, an offensive lineman from Castle Rock, Colo., was named to the First Team and will be forwarded to the All-American ballot. He has a 4.00 grade point average in business management and has started all 10 games for the Bears this year. This is his second All-District award.

Van Portfliet, a safety from Denver, Colo., was a Second Team selection with a 3.63 GPA in sport & exercise science. He has played in all 10 games this season with 12 tackles and two blocked kicks in his career. This is his first All-District award.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
