John Haefeli returned to the Bears coaching ranks for the third time, this time as a volunteer assistant coach, in August 2011.
Haefeli works primarily with the outfielders, seeing both Jensen Park and Nick Miller earn all-conference honors in 2012. During the season, the outfielders tallied 10 outfield assists, including helping turn three double plays.
He also served on the coaching staff in 1980-85 under Hall of Fame head coach Tom Petroff and again in 1992-93 under Terry Hensley.
Haefeli is a retired high school educator and coach who has been extremely involved in athletics around Greeley and the entire state of Colorado. He serves as the CHSAA Basketball Site Director for both "A" and "AAA," is a college basketball official and is currently director of the UNC Secondary Post Baccalaureate Teacher Candidate Program.
He is also on the NCMC Foundation Board of Directors and the Weld County Boys and Girls Club Foundation Board of Directors.
On the diamond, Haefeli was a catcher at Colorado State, earning Mountain West North Division All-Academic Team honors. He went to Haarlem, Netherlands, in 1979 with Major League Baseball International before moving to the coaching ranks. In 1993, Haefeli served as a Major League Baseball International coach in Sweden.
A native of Greeley, Haefeli earned a bachelor's degree in History from Colorado State and his master's degree in Education Administration from Northern Colorado. He is happily married to wife, Delia.
