Trio named to second team

OREM, Utah – After earning the fourth-seed for the Great West Conference Tournament, the Northern Colorado baseball team had three players earn all-conference nods at the annual banquet on Monday evening.
Senior short stop Adam Hilker, sophomore designated hitter Colby Harrison and freshman left fielder Jensen Park were all named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Hilker leads the team with a .391 batting average, has been on base in all 53 games in which he’s played and is currently on a 19-game hitting streak. He also ranks fourth in school history with 214 hits, needing just one more to tie for third all-time.
Harrison hit .390 against Great West Conference opponents with a .610 slugging percentage. Of his 23 hits, 10 were for extra bases. He also ranked second on the club with eight doubles and a .486 on-base percentage.
Park was second on the team with a .393 batting average and a .539 slugging percentage in conference action. For the season, he’s hitting .360 with 16 extra bases. Park also leads the team with seven sacrifice flies, which also ranks 18th nationally.
Utah Valley’s Goose Kallunki and Adam Gunn were named the league’s Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, while North Dakota’s Jeff Campbell was named the Newcomer of the Year.
The Bears begin play Tuesday in the Great West Tournament at 3:30 pm against Houston Baptist.
