Hilker and Yamane both honored
Northern Colorado’s Adam Hilker and Ryan Yamane both earned weekly honors for their efforts at Texas-Pan American last week.
Hilker, a senior from Westminster, Colo., was
named the Great West Conference Player of the Week. He powered
Northern Colorado to a series win at UTPA last week as the Bears
won 3-of-4. The shortstop hit .444 with a .500 slugging percentage
and has now reached base at least once in all 50 games in which
he’s played this season and he stretched his active hitting
streak to 16 games, a career-long. Hilker drove in six of the
team’s 14 runs in the series and had a team-best eight hits.
Hilker has had seven multi-hit games in the last nine, including
3-of-4 at Texas-Pan American.
Yamane, a freshman from Honolulu, Hawai'i,
earned the College Sports Madness Great West Player of the Week
award after hitting .385 with six walks in the four games. He also
scored the winning run in the team's 14-inning 7-5 victory. Two of
his five hits were doubles in the series for a .538 slugging
percentage and .579 on-base percentage.
This is the second time this season Hilker has
been named the Great West Player of the Week, while this is the
first honor for Yamane.
